Frequently Asked Questions
Please view our FAQs to find answers about our products, company, warranties, policies, and much more.
Q. What sets Goalsetter apart from other basketball goals?
A. The game of basketball was forever elevated when the founders of Goalsetter Systems dared to imagine a residential basketball goal unlike any of its kind. The same passion that so many people have for the game was poured into the creation of the first Goalsetter Systems – the MVP. The rest is basketball history!
What makes a Goalsetter Basketball System so original? Everything! Virtually every inch of a Goalsetter, down to the parts you never see, is designed to enhance the performance and durability of your basketball goal. Goalsetter’s exclusive features, including the Patented Compression Height Adjustment Systems, Fortified Acrylic Backboards, One-Piece Off-Set Structural Steel Poles and Patented Hinged Ground Anchors crush the misconception that all basketball goals are created equal.
At Goalsetter Systems, we also embrace the belief that the quality of a product is much more than a collection of stand-alone features. True quality lies in the ay we do business – from training our representatives to ensure product knowledge and customer satisfaction to proudly manufacturing our entire product line in the United States. Our goal is to provide you with a premium quality basketball goal to be enjoyed for years to come, allowing you to claim a unique pride in owning a Goalsetter System.
We invite you to embrace the tradition of the greatest game ever created and experience how Goalsetter Systems has redefined home court basketball.
Originality makes a stand with Goalsetter Basketball Systems…the Best in Basketball!
Q. What is included in the purchase price of my in-ground basketball hoop system?
A. The in-ground system price will typically include the five major components that must be installed. These include: Ground Anchor, Pole Assembly, a pair of Extension Arms, a Backboard, and a Rim. Pole padding and backboard padding are additional accessories that maybe added to the purchase price during checkout. Not included is the cost of the installation labor and the concrete mix used in the installation of the ground anchor. Take note that some Goalsetter dealers will use a single purchase price that includes the components AND the cost of installation.
Q. What is the difference between goals?
A. The differences between the goals are pole size, pole design, backboard size, backboard material, height adjustability, and warranties. You can take a closer look at these options by checking out our Inside Story page.
Q. How are Goalsetter Systems anchored into the ground?
A. Unlike many basketball goals, the Goalsetter System does not use a direct bury method or "J" bolts assembly. Each Goalsetter System is anchored using our patented ground anchor hinge system. First, the ground anchor is placed in a 4' deep hole (18" diameter) and secured using Quick Crete. When dry, the hinge system allows complete assembly of the Goalsetter hoop before it is raised upright and bolted to the ground anchor.
Q. What types of backboards are available? Which type do I need?
A. Our tempered glass backboard has a superior ball response and is the backboard material of choice in residential settings Acrylic is recommended for park and school applications or areas where there is unsupervised play. Because it is a softer material, acrylic withstands vandalism better than glass. Both boards carry Limited Lifetime Warranty when used in their proper applications.
Q. What type of rim should I order?
A. Heavy Duty Flex: This is our "standard" rim and most commonly chosen by our residential customers. This breakaway style rim has a single spring and deflects 15 degrees with 30 lbs. of down pressure. Equipped with continuous netlocks, the Heavy Duty Flex rim is more than sufficient for most residential play and carries a 2-year Limited Warranty.
Double Ring Static: The first and only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball rim! This double 5/8" sold alloy steel rim construction makes it ideal for outdoor courts at park and recreation settings.
GS Ultra Flex: This breakaway style rim is similar to the Heavy Duty Flex rim but contains a universal bolt pattern so can be used with virtually any style of backboard. It features a single spring and continuous netlocks.
GS Collegiate: This competition breakaway rim features two springs allowing it to deflect 15 degrees with 130 lbs. of down pressure. Meets or exceeds High School and NCAA specifications for competitive play. This rim carries an unconditional 1-year Warranty.
Note: All of these are made to dunk on. They are mounted to a steel plate, not to the backboard itself.
Q. Can I take my Goalsetter System with me when I move?
A. Chances are, the next person that buys your house is going to want to keep it! If you're lucky enough to take it with you, you simply loosen the five bolts holding the pole to the anchor. The anchor stays in the ground, and you get to take the hoop with you. You can purchase a new anchor when you're ready to reinstall it.
Q. Should I install the goal myself or have it installed by a professional?
A. This decision is up to you! The Installation and Assembly of a Goalsetter goal can be accomplished by two or three people without the use of ladders or scaffold. The patented ground anchor hinge system allows complete assembly of the Goalsetter goal before it is raised upright. The toughest task during installation of a Goalsetter goal is digging the hole. Each goal features our patented ground anchor. First, a four-foot deep hole (18 inch diameter) must be dug where you would like your basketball goal located. After placing your ground anchor into the hole, fill it with QuickCrete (10-12 bags). When the cement is completely dry (usually two days is sufficient), the pole structure, extension arms, and backboard can be assembled and raised upright. Most of our dealers also offer installation as an option for an additional fee.
Q. What are the warranties?
A. All poles (excludes paints): Lifetime; Acrylic Backboard: Lifetime; Polycarbonate Backboard: Lifetime;
Glass Backboard: Lifetime; Hand Cranks (internal): Lifetime; Hand Cranks (external): Lifetime
Rims (standard, flex): 2 years; Rims: 5 years; Complete warranty information
Q. Do I need backboard edge and pole padding?
A. Contact is more likely with height-adjustable basketball systems. Padding will provide protection when your backyard game gets rough.
Q. What is the Basketball Court Stencil Kit and how does it work?
A. The Basketball Court Stencil is a kit that allows you to easily create regulation basketball court markings on your playing surface. A free-throw line, lane markings and a 3-point line can be easily marked without using complicated measuring and guesswork. The kit includes six marked pattern sheets that are easily spread across the surface, a paint roller, and complete instructions. All you need is 1 quart of paint (light color on asphalt or dark color on concrete), a pan for paint, 2" masking tape, string (10 feet) and a nail or pen.
